Casa Loma

Toronto, ON

Casa Loma profile image

When arriving at Casa Loma it truly feels like an out-of-place experience. You feel like you should be in Europe or somewhere far older than youthful Toronto. But Toronto does indeed have it's very own castle!

Once the residence of Sir Henry Pellatt - a prominent Toronto financier, industrialist and military man - Casa Loma is a fascinating glimpse into the highest aristocracy of Toronto's past. Visit the beautiful halls, gardens, great rooms, stables, green house, and experience the architecture of this truly fascinating and beautiful place. Special events and exhibits are held year round for the whole family. Casa Loma is also a known venue available for rent for private functions such as weddings for those who seek a fairytale happy ending.

It is quite possible to get lost in the long hallways and secret corridors. Guided tours are available. You are also welcome to visit the commissary in the basement for quick meal during your exploration. And for the more adventurous, visit one of the spires at the heights of the castle for a unique view of the city below.

Casa Loma is certainly worth the visit. It is one of those underrated experiences in the city of Toronto.

This place sucks! A "gothic revival" castle without a gothic interior? Why did they just add furniture and other "old looking" things that don't relate to the period this place was either built or supposed to represent??

Potted plants??

This place is blowing my mind with how inconsistent it is. Not even the tunnel beneath the castle can make up for how lame this place is!

Standing out on the observation deck of the Warplane Heritage Museum, the crowd of 12 or so people were buzzed (extremely close flyby) by an old military plane. A half hour later, we got to take an up close look at it in the hangar, along with many other classic military planes.
